“Embrace the thunderous welcome of the Torres Strait
GINAR AUSTRALIA
Immerse yourself in raw, tribal, full-bodied drums, dance, and melodies of Australia’s far north-east.”

Ginar Australia is a vibrant dance show that blends live performances, music, and documentary vignettes to showcase the rich cultural heritage of the Torres Strait Islands in northeastern Australia. Over the course of a year and a half, I worked extensively with the Ginar Australia team to bring the visual component of their concept to life. I travelled regularly to Cairns, where a large part of the crew was based, to take photos of the dancers in action and to film sequences for the promotional material. I then created posters and formatted the media for various social media and theatre marketing platforms.
Additionally, I employed the use of interviews, archival footage, and motion graphics to create four documentaries of 6-7 minutes each, showcasing the lives of Torres Strait islanders past and present, which are screened during the show itself. I was present for the opening performance to record the production and interview audience members, which I then compiled into several clips to promote the show’s future run.

“Since eagerly offering her filming and production expertise to Ginar Australia, Abigail has created wonderful footage and images that have faithfully captured the essence of our showcase… When it comes to translation vision to reality, Abigail spares no effort in her craft. We are thrilled to have her skills on board, and are very pleased to be able to work with her.”
